A comprehensive ice velocity map of Greenland from RADARSAT and other satellite data
The goal of this project was to produce comprehensive maps ice flow velocity for Greenland for the winters of 2000/1 and 2005/6 when nearly complete coverage of the ice sheet was acquired (roughly 4 repeat images along each satellite track). We processed all of these data to produce velocity in all ice sheet locations, except where limited by coverage and poor interferometric correlation (generally confined to high accumulation regions such as the southeast). Much of our effort in the latter part of the project has gone into improving the speckle tracking to maximize the coverage on fast moving glaciers. These products are in a final validation stage and will be released though web site in late 2009. This project led to a follow-on NASA MEASURES program project, which will produce similar products from 2006/7 onwards.
